Just a Buddhist Minister Trying to Benefit Beings

DVD Releases from the Buddhist Film Society, Inc.

In December of 2005, Festival Media, the distribution service of the Buddhist Film Society, Inc., made two films available on DVD for the first time: Mickey Lemle’s Compassion In Exile: The Story of the 14th Dalai Lama and Gaetano Kazuo Maida’s Peace Is Every Step: Meditation In Action: The Life and Work of Thich Nhat Hanh.

Of the two, I’ve only seen Lemle’s film, and I think it’s wonderful–the best film you can find about His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama.

Checking out these films would be a great way to support the Buddhist Film Society, which has sponsored the very cool International Buddhist Film Festival for the last couple of years.

Festival Media has recently released the trailers for both films on YouTube, which is how I discovered these films were newly available on DVD. You can view both trailers below.

Progressive Faith Blog-Con 2006

The Progressive Faith Blog-Con 2006 will be held July 14th-16th in the Conference Center at Montclair State University, Montclair, NJ.

The conference organizers have composed the following call to progressive faith bloggers:

Faith and politics have the capacity to profoundly divide, or to profoundly connect. Progressive Faith BlogCon is a chance for progressive bloggers of faith to meet one another, talk with one another, and learn from one another.

Our progressive politics are rooted in our theologies, and our theological stances inform our politics; why not celebrate them together? During this weekend gathering we’ll break bread together, talk about the subjects that fire our passions, and put faces with the names on our blogrolls.

You can find more information here.
