I’ve read Norris’ The Cloister Walk and thought it was quite eloquent indeed. I’ve not read Amazing Grace or any of her others, though I would hope to get around to them one of these days.

Have you read Joan Chittister’s Wisdom Distilled from the Daily: Living the Rule of St. Benedict Today. I haven’t yet, but I’m hoping to do so soon. It seems apropos to thinking about monastic (especially Benedictine) spirituality. I’m a huge fan of Chittister’s–what an amazing person she is!

Are you familiar with the writing of Kathleen Norris? She’s a (non-Catholic) Christian who has spent significant time in a Benedictine monastic context, and has written gorgeously about the monastic life.
