More on the Fate of the Buddhist AIDS Project
by Danny Fisher
Awhile back, I addressed a question from Dukkha Earl about the status of the Buddhist AIDS Project. I have since received an update of sorts from Jeff Wilson, who I interviewed a few months back. He wrote the following to me in a recent email:
- I saw your question at your blog about the Buddhist AIDS Project. The Buddhist Peace Fellowship said they haven’t heard from the Project since [project coordinator Steve Peskind] died, and since it was an affiliate organization, they ought to know. They consider it defunct.
I’m sad to hear about the disintegration of the Buddhist AIDS Project, but I appreciate Jeff providing us with more information.

We just received a comment in the last post about the Buddhist AIDS Project from Elise at the blog Not Always On. Elise was a friend of the late Steve Peskind and wrote an obituary for him at her blog three years ago. In her recent comment, she writes:
Steve was the coordinator of BAP and he did pass away 2 years ago from lung cancer. When I last talked to his partner Bob, Bob told me that Steve didn’t leave him any of the password information for managing the site. I’m sure if anyone wanted to take up the torch for the organization and publish a new website carrying on its mission, Steve would approve from wherever he his. (I helped build the BAP website for Steve.) Some of the info on the site was terrific. You could probably still find it by going to the Wayback Machine (Google “internet archive”).
