Just a Buddhist Minister Trying to Benefit Beings

Ravenna Michalsen Interview at The Worst Horse

Back in October, I posted an interview with my old friend Ravenna Michalsen, the Shambhala Buddhist meditation instructor and acclaimed singer-songwriter. This morning, The Worst Horse posted its own interview with Ravenna. Please do take a look if you have a moment.

I also encourage you once again to pick up a copy of Ravenna’s exquisite new album Dharmasong. You can order the CD from either Ravenna’s official site or her Myspace page.

International Human Rights Day

Yesterday, December 10th, was International Human Rights Day.

At the Commemoration of Human Rights Day held then at the Palais des Nations in Geneva, Switzerland, U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon and High Commissioner for Human Rights Louise Arbour launched a year-long celebration of Human Rights Day’s upcoming sixtieth anniversary. Fifty-nine years ago, the United Nations General Assembly adopted an advisory declaration known as the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Human Rights Day honors this event and the values laid out in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

Like The Clash, I think it’s very important that you “know your rights.” As such, I’d like to begin my own celebration of the sixtieth anniversary of Human Rights Day by linking to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights online. Please do familiarize yourself with this document–it’s for you. Read it here.
