"And the Prayer of Faith Shall Save the Sick"
I visited the Yale Center for British Art recently with my friends Pierre and Katherine. While there we took in a new exhibition called The Lure of the East: British Orientalist Painting, 1830-1925. The show “focuses on encounters between nineteenth-century British artists and the people and places of the Middle East,” and is both the premiere and only U.S. venue for this work.
Of all the pieces in the exhibit, I was most struck by John Frederick Lewis’ “And the Prayer of Faith Shall Save the Sick (Epistle of St. James, verse 15)”. As it is an image of care with a “pastoral” element, I thought it might be with sharing here at the blog. It is below.
