  • On the heels of His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s visit, New West Politics has a good piece about Aspen, CO, as “an epicenter of Tibetan Buddhism, Western-style.”
  • Speaking of His Holiness, the Associated Press reports that he will meet with the members of France’s parliament during his visit to Paris next month.
  • Via Phil Ryan over at the Tricycle Editors’ Blog: The A.P. also tells us that Thai Buddhist monks in Los Angeles were apparently unfazed by yesterday’s earthquake.

  • Today is Internet Censorship Day of Protest

    Goodies for Buddhist Studies Nerds at Hulu

    While trolling for Buddhist-relevant multimedia at Hulu recently, I came across two excellent videos.

    The first is from National Geographic Traveler. It’s a very short feature about Luang Prabang, the “ancient royal capital” of Laos. Also known as the “City of the Golden Buddha,” it is home to a vibrant Buddhist culture and extensive history. Compared to other predominantly Buddhist countries, we don’t hear much about Laos. This video, however, offers an intriguing peek:

    The second video is a full, hour-long episode of NOVA entitled “Lost Treasures of Tibet”. It follows the work of a restoration team trying preserve medieval Tibetan murals:
