Interfaith Voices Podcast: Robert Thurman on "Finding the ‘Middle Way’ Between China and Tibet"

The Interfaith Voices Podcast this week features an interview with Robert Thurman about his new book Why the Dalai Lama Matters and his ideas for how to “find the ‘middle way’ between China and Tibet.” “Buddha Bob” is delightful as always–give it a listen.

(Today has been kind of like “Robert Thurman Day,” hasn’t it? Nearly all posts in the last twelve hours have had something to do with the good professor. Keep up the good work, sir!)

Religion & Ethics Newsweekly: Political Buddhism

Here’s something that slipped past my radar: Religion & Ethics Newsweekly‘s Bob Abernathy did a tremendous cover story at the very end of June entitled “Political Buddhism”. The feature is about the “plight and paradox” presented by the recent demonstrations against Chinese rule in Tibet, and features interviews with Students for a Free Tibet’s Lhadon Tethong, Robert Thurman, Harvard professor Tu Weiming, and Arjia Rinpoche. The transcript is available online, but, if you’re able, watch the televised version on video here–it includes lots of good footage and photographs. Online, Religion & Ethics Newsweekly also has a terrific addendum to the feature: a piece by Harvard professor Christopher S. Queen, entitled “China, Tibet, and Buddhist Ethics: An Overview”. Do check it all out.
