The Agence France-Presse is reporting that Chinese police “roughed up” and tried to stop a British TV crew from filming a Students for a Free Tibet demonstration in Beijing near the main Olympic complex. The manhandling of these correspondents from Independent Television News (ITN) represents “the latest case of interference with media freedom at the Beijing Olympic Games.” (The Associated Press has reported that internet access for foreign journalists is still restricted, despite early assurances from both the Chinese government and the International Olympic Committee that it would be unfettered.)
