Congress Must Protect Our Drinking Water

This from the League of Conservation Voters:

Recent Supreme Court rulings have narrowed the scope of protections of the Clean Water Act, putting the drinking water of millions of Americans at risk for contamination.

But, Congress has an opportunity to restore the original protections of the Clean Water Act. Contact your Members of Congress TODAY to insist that they support the Clean Water Restoration Act.

BBC: Shun Meat, Says Nobel Prize-Winning Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change

The marvelous Buddhoblogger Justin Whitaker of American Buddhist Perspective points us to a piece at the BBC reporting that Rajendra Pachauri, who chairs the Intergovernmnetal Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), the organization that was awarded last year’s Nobel Peace Prize along with Fmr. Vice President Al Gore, will give a speech tonight in which he will say that “people should consider eating less meat as a way of combating global warming.” UN analysis suggests that meat production puts more greenhouse gases into the atmosphere than transport.

I’ve blogged about this issue before in my post “Vegetarianism, Buddhism and the Climate Crisis”. Take a look at it, Justin’s post, and the BBC report and give the issue some thought. And please share your comments here.
