Via the great Phil Ryan over at the Tricycle Editors’ Blog: The junta has sentenced blogger Nay Phone Latt to twenty years and six months for making fun of Than Shwe and the other generals at his blog.
The Irrawaddy reports that forty-three nations have voted to send a resolution highly critical of the junta to the UN General Assembly for a vote, “probably in December.”
The Associated Press reports that the European Union has declared that they will not recognize the elections scheduled for 2010 in Burma unless Nobel Peace laureate and Prime Minister-elect Daw Aung San Suu Kyi and all other political prisoners are freed.
