Here are some of the headlines about Burma today:

  • Via the great Phil Ryan over at the Tricycle Editors’ Blog: The junta has sentenced blogger Nay Phone Latt to twenty years and six months for making fun of Than Shwe and the other generals at his blog.
  • The Irrawaddy reports that forty-three nations have voted to send a resolution highly critical of the junta to the UN General Assembly for a vote, “probably in December.”
  • The Associated Press reports that the European Union has declared that they will not recognize the elections scheduled for 2010 in Burma unless Nobel Peace laureate and Prime Minister-elect Daw Aung San Suu Kyi and all other political prisoners are freed.
