Burma’s Junta Jails More Protesters, UN Expresses Concern

by Danny Fisher

The BBC reports that “at least 11 more Burmese activists have received jail sentences for taking part in anti-government protests last year.” This brings the total number of democracy activists sentenced by the junta this week to more than sixty. The UN has expressed concern about their treatment and the length of their prison sentences.

Don’t forget to sign the petition asking UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon to visit Burma and make the release of political prisoners there his top priority.
