The New York Times Magazine: David Lynch on Talking about Meditation Online
by Danny Fisher
Here’s an interesting snippet from the New York Times Magazine‘s recent interview with Academy Award-nominated film director and evangelist for transcendental meditation David Lynch:
- THE NEW YORK TIMES MAGAZINE: I hear you’re starting an online series on transcendental meditation, based on your book “Catching the Big Fish.” Is the small screen a good format for discussing meditation?
DAVID LYNCH: Any format is a good format for meditation. Every single person has within an ocean of pure vibrant consciousness. Every single human being can experience that — infinite intelligence, infinite creativity, infinite happiness, infinite energy, infinite dynamic peace.

Nice to see David Lynch getting so much news space these days. He is doing so much good for the world with his foundaton (www.davidlynchfoundation.org) that supports ‘Quiet Time’ programs in schools during which the students and teachers practice Transcendental Meditation. Last February I happened to meet David in San Francisco (on line at the Indian Consulate) and that was all he could talk about. A very generous, creative and insightful man.
David Lynch, besides being a very talented director and extremely creative individual is also a great philanthropist. His foundation, the David Lynch Foundation has helped millions of kids learn TM worldwide, changing these children’s lives and offering them opportunities they may never have had. One of these children is my own, who learned TM recently. I watch him spend a few minutes everyday diving into deep Silence, and I see him emerge a stronger, brighter, happier child. I feel that, thanks to the foundation I have given my child one of the greatest gifts a parent could ever offer: The one of Self reliance, reliance on one’s inexhaustible inner resources. For this, my gratitude to Mr. Lynch and his foundation grows every day. Mr. Lynch is a famous, wealthy individual who could have done anything he wanted, and he chose to offer the children of the world such a marvelous gift.
