Just a Buddhist Minister Trying to Benefit Beings

Happy Bodhi Day!

In honor of Bodhi Day today, here’s an excerpt from Jerry Aronson’s film The Life and Times of Allen Ginsberg. It is Buddhists Patti Smith and Philip Glass doing a reading together at the 1998 New York City Memorial for “Dharma Lion” Allen Ginsberg. It was recently posted to the film’s YouTube page, and my dear cousin Cilloran sent it to me this morning.

AFP: His Holiness the Dalai Lama Urges Action on Global Warming

The Agence France-Presse is reporting that His Holiness the Dalai Lama has commented on the UN climate talks happening in Poland, where he is currently traveling. He said:

I do have some serious concerns as a result of learning from specialists (that) unless we pay sufficient attention and (adopt) sufficient method of protection…global warming is really, really very serious…[In the Tibetan plateau area] warming is higher than global rate so if present trend will go continuously without serious protection some of these major rivers covering Asia will dry… billions of human beings for life depend very much on these rivers.
