The Rigpa Videos Channel (for students and friends of Sogyal Rinpoche and Rigpa) has posted a video of His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s visit to Lerab Ling, Rigpa’s retreat center in the south of France, this past August. You can watch it here or below.

Over at Shambhala Sun Space, the awesome Rod Meade Sperry blogs about a news story coming out of Cambodia about a group of Buddhist monks organizing to “keep the country’s first rock opera off the air because, they say, it insults Buddhism.” Rod contrasts sensitivity around depictions of Buddhism in Cambodia with those in the West, writing:

This stands in stark contrast to how we Westerners mostly deal with cultural portrayals of Buddhism. Whether it’s a rapper co-opting a chant for his song, or a major motion picture taking incredible liberties with Buddhist ideas or imagery, or just the mountains of semi-Dharmic knick-knacks that are popping everywhere, we — for the most part — just shrug our shoulders and say, “Meh.”
