Over at Progressive Buddhism, Jamie G. asks:

Who are your dharma heroes (besides for the Buddha)? Which teachers of the dharma have had the most impact on you? Who has made a large impact on your life? Who inspires and challenges you?

In response, I have decided to list the first ten teachers that I thought of. Some of them have been my own personal teachers. Some I know only through recordings or books. All of them have been important. I could list many more, but these were the first that popped to mind:

  • Acharya Judith Simmer-Brown
  • Kobutsu Malone
  • Sulak Sivaraksa
  • Maha Ghosananda
  • Chökyi Nyima Rinpoche
  • Godwin Samararatne
  • Ekai Korematsu Osho
  • Pema Chödrön
  • Dr. Reggie Ray
  • Tara Brach
