Mizzima reports that “the United States State Department has once again saddled Burma with the moniker of a ‘country of particular concern’ (CPC) for the Burmese government’s failure to address the lack of religious freedom inside the troubled Southeast Asian country.”

Xinhua reports that Burma will host the 27th Meeting of Energy Ministers of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and Energy Business Forum in Mandalay this July.
The UN News Centre issues a statement saying that people Burma affected by last year’s Cyclone Nargis still need “considerable help in restoring their lives.”
