Here’s some of the latest on Burma:

  • Mizzima reports that “the United States State Department has once again saddled Burma with the moniker of a ‘country of particular concern’ (CPC) for the Burmese government’s failure to address the lack of religious freedom inside the troubled Southeast Asian country.”
  • Over at the Huffington Post, author Russ Wellen offer a two part piece on the Karen Independence Movement.
  • Xinhua reports that Burma will host the 27th Meeting of Energy Ministers of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and Energy Business Forum in Mandalay this July.
  • The UN News Centre issues a statement saying that people Burma affected by last year’s Cyclone Nargis still need “considerable help in restoring their lives.”
