Buddhist Support Society Vandalized Twice in the Past Two Weeks

The Associated Press reports that the Buddhist Support Society, a Cambodian Buddhist temple in Rochester, NY, has been vandalized twice in the past two weeks.

    Sgt. Scott Behrns says the second incident happened late Thursday or early Friday, when someone smashed spotlights and globe lights at the entrance to the property.

    The weekend before, someone painted a cross on the driveway and the words “Jesus Saves” on the property.

    Behrns says the person behind the incidents needs to “knock it off and grow up.”

Gampo Abbey Celebrating 25 Years

This via MahaSangha News: Gampo Abbey, the Halifax, Nova Scotia-based Karma Kagyu Tibetan Buddhist monastery founded by Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche in 1984, is celebrating its twenty-fifth anniversary with some big doings. Take a look at their official website.

The Abbey, which is associated with the Vajradhatu Buddhist Church of Canada and Shambhala International, is home to (among others) the great Pema Chödrön. In addition, the Very Venerable 9th Khenchen Thrangu Rinpoche currently serves as abbot.
