Burma News (6.14.09)

Here’s the latest on what’s happening in Burma:

  • The Agence France-Presse reports that the junta’s high court has set a date for a hearing on Nobel Peace laureate and Prime Minister-elect Daw Aung San Suu Kyi’s appeal against a ban on two witnesses in her ongoing trial.
  • The AFP also reports that the junta has “categorically rejected” the European Union’s concerns over “a growing offensive against Karen rebels which has forced civilians to flee to Thailand.”
  • The Associated Press also reports that asylum seekers from Burma are finding safe haven in Palau.
  • The AP also reports on celebrity “tweets” for the site 64 for Aung San Suu Kyi. I added my 64 last month. You should too–here.
