Thanks for the Music…

I think all I want to say about the surprising news of pop icon Michael Jackson’s death is that I appreciated his work, and in particular the things he said with many of his songs: from the nonviolent message of “Beat It” to the defiant anti-racism in “Black or White,” a lot of titles in his catalogue espoused important human values. As an artist, he celebrated the better angels of our nature, and I think that’s as significant as all of the incredible success and controversy that defined him. Thanks for the music, Michael.
