The Eighth annual Buddhist Bike Pilgrimage
September 26 and 27, 2009

2 Days  …..137 Miles  …….60,000 Breaths

Dear Pilgrims,
A group of us has been meeting and planning the 2009 ride almost since the conclusion of the 2008 ride.  We have a very a very devoted team that is very supportive and thoughtful in making the BBP a reality.  We are very much looking forward to the 2009 ride.  The route remains the same.  There will be only some minor changes.  Our midday stop at the Sae Taw Win temple in Sebastopol will be a proper lunch and there will be 2 meditation sessions.   These changes we hope will keep riders feeling energized and a good flow to the day.

The Pilgrimage is dependent upon all your support. What makes the event special each year is the Spirit of The Buddhist Bicycle Pilgrimage. The fulfillment of the Buddhist Bicycle Pilgrimage (BBP) is brought about by the labors, mindfulness and enthusiasm of a core group of people who volunteer their time to bring it to fruition. The BBP is offered at no cost. It is the generous donations of food and money by all participants that make it possible. Yet, it is not just these contributions that allow it to happen but all the efforts of the volunteers and riders throughout the event.

The money received for the event goes to pay for the rentals of the facilities, gear truck and other essentials. The remainder of the money is shared amongst the four dharma centers that generously make themselves available to us.

The Buddhist Bicycle Pilgrimage is more than a cycling event. It’s definitely not a race. It’s an opportunity to share time and connect with other sangha members. One cannot express enough that the focus of the event is on its pilgrimage aspect. Everyone’s contributions: physical, spiritual and support wise, make the BBP a truly amazing opportunity to practice and have good fun. This is the spirit we hope everyone will bring to the event.

Questions? Please read FAQ or our MUST READ PAGE.

You may now register. Just select whether you are a ride or volunteer. We have created a food donation page as well so and decide what food items you would be able to donate. All food for the event (for the delicious meals you will be eating) will be donated by all participants. At that time you may also make a monetary contribution on our donation page.

After that please join our DharmaWheels Yahoo group email list to receive announcements and to communicate with other Buddhist Bicycle Pilgrims.

Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns. We look forward to seeing you on the 26th of September at Spirit Rock or on one of our practice rides in the upcoming weeks

All the best,
The Dharmawheels team
