I remember Tsultrim from visits to Karme Choling in the mid 1970s. He was popular and conspicuous, not only because of his monk’s robes, but because of his friendly outgoing manner. I have frequently thought of his enthusiasm for (a fizzy, fermented milk drink) made from a Mongolian yeast culture he had sneaked through Customs.
