Photos from Don Farber’s Visit to UWest
by Danny Fisher
What better way to tell you about the great Buddhist photographer Don Farber’s visit to UWest than through photographs? See them below. I’ll just add that in addition to being both a truly remarkable talent and, as Shambhala Sun editor Melvin McLeod, has said, “one of the most important chroniclers of Buddhism in the twentieth century,” Don is also one heck of a nice guy. I hope our paths cross again soon. Enjoy the photos, and be sure to check out Don’s work at http://www.buddhistphotos.com.

Don presents some of the images from his new book of photographs of His Holiness the Dalai Lama. The photo on the right is an amazing shot of His Holiness enjoying lunch with such Buddhist luminaries as the Ven. Dr. Ratnasara, the Ven. Thich Man Giac, UWest's founder Grand Master Hsing Yun, and Taizan Maezumi Roshi.

I absolutely love the first photo — Don Farber’s silhouetted head in front of his photos. I wish I’d taken that photo myself!
I also enjoyed the image of the two of you together with your matching shirts and jackets. Is there a metaphor here? Was it planned? Is it art?
