In our newspaper, they asked readers about the Haiti fundraising effort. There were some few but alot of people were against it. The responses ranged from why can’t fundraisers be done for US causes (ex: aid desitute senior citizens) to forseeing a Haiti that is more powerful then US because they were able to rebuild themselves to be a “major force” in the Carribbean (?) diapora.
I must admit that these reponses are typical from people who live in Cleveland Ohio but it does beg the question…What will it take to bring the same attention we are lavishing on Haiti to our own country?
