Two Announcements from the Buddhist Council of the Midwest

Two announcements from the Buddhist Council of the Midwest, courtesy of Mahasangha News.

First, the Council is seeking applications for the 2010 Women and Engaged Buddhism Award.  The deadline is March 26, 2010.

The Women and Engaged Buddhism Award is given to recognize and encourage initiatives in Engaged Buddhism by women.  It is intended to nurture young or little-known projects that are under way at the time of the application. This year’s award carries with it a guaranteed monetary grant of $1,000. Please see the application/nomination form for the specific rules and criteria regarding eligibly for the award.  Applications for the 2010 award must be postmarked by March 26, 2010, or e-mail stamped before 23:59 USA Central Time on March 26, 2010.

Second, the Fifth Annual Buddhist Women’s Conference, “Dharma in Motion,” will be hosted by the Council soon.

The Buddhist Women’s Conference offers an engaging program of practices from all Buddhist traditions.  More than a dozen workshops address many aspects of the theme of Dharma in Motion.  Presenters are both lay and ordained teachers.   An introduction to Buddhist traditions will be offered.

Registration $90 ($70 early registration by April 1st)  Scholarships available.
