6th Dalai LamaToday’s quote is from His Holiness Tsangyang Gyatso, the Sixth Dalai Lama of Tibet (1683 – 1706).  In addition to serving as the spiritual and secular leader of his country, His Holiness composed internationally acclaimed love poetry and songs. This is it–one of his most famous verses (translated by K. Dhondup):

If I could meditate upon the dharma
As intensely as I muse on my beloved
I would certainly attain enlightenment
Surely, in this one lifetime
