Shuun Lou Hartman (1915-2011)
by Danny Fisher
Shuun Lou Hartman, “Zen priest-poet, husband, father, seaman, cook, radio writer, as well as chief candle-cleaner and New York Times-dispenser at the Zen temple, Page Street, San Francisco,” and also husband of former San Francisco Zen Center abbot Zenkei Blanche Hartman, has died. Our friend Rev. James Ishmael Ford (Zeno Myoun, Roshi), whom I’ve interviewed for this blog and Shambhala SunSpace, has more about Harman’s passing at his blog Monkey Mind.
