The latest Buddhist Blog Swap, created by the great Nate DeMontigny over at Precious Metal, is here!

Today, we’re hoping to be hosting the post below from David Ashton, whose terrific blog is Snow Branches. Many thanks to David for his post, and Nate for putting this all together once again!

FROM DAVID ASHTON:

Thanks are in order to Nate DeMontigny for organizing this 2K11 Article Swap and to Danny Fisher for making his spot available.

My brief blogging life passed before my eyes when I learned I would be posting here, and I tried not to think about the Roshis, Rinpoches and Geshes who might come here looking for Danny but finding me.

It wasn’t made any easier by Danny gracefully declining to give me a topic.  I considered and thankfully rejected a predictable stream of ideas to write about, ranging from the cunningly complex to the benignly inane.  My thoughts kept circling back to the unhappy issue of errant teachers and the consequence of their misdeeds or suspect teachings, or both: hurt and bewildered students, frustrated peers, and sanghas in distress.  Being unqualified to add further comment to an already much-debated subject, I have only a small thought to share.

An invitation to pause for a just a moment on our many paths that are one path and offer:

To every teacher
From each beginner
A deep bow
