Four Interesting Pieces at The Huffington Post

The author and Ravenna Michalsen at Duke University in 2009.

Yeah, yeah, I know all the reasons I’m supposed to hate “HuffPo,” but I’m ignoring all that right now for the sake of highlighting three articles you won’t see elsewhere.

First, the National University of Singapore’s Thomas David DuBois, author of Religion and the Making of Modern East Asia, reflects on “The Relation Between Religion and Government in China”.

Second, Jennifer D. Fox, director of the new film My Reincarnation, talks about “Buddhist Samaya and The Making of ‘My Reincarnation’”.

Third, Michaela Haas, a lecturer at UC-Santa Barbara, notes that “2,500 Years After the Buddha, Tibetan Buddhists Acknowledge Women”.

Lastly, my friend Ravenna Michalsen, the dharma musician and Shambhala Buddhist teacher I interviewed for this blog and profiled for the Spring 2009 issue of Tricycle: The Buddhist Review, recommends “Three Songs for Buddhist Practice”.
