Today’s quote is yet another from His Holiness the Dalai Lama, whom I first quoted and wrote a short biography for in this post. This is it — from the Insight from the Dalai Lama 2011 Calendar:

Gradual Rhapsody: The Paintings of George Tun Sein

"Away" by George Tun Sein, 2 ft 6 in × 2 ft, oil on canvas, 2009.

This via our friend and past interviewee Stephen Prothero:

New York-based Burmese artist George Tun Sein’s meditative abstract compositions employ color fields and gestural elements that transcend cultures. His well-balanced harmonies appear effortless and resonate with a gentle but powerful palette. Gradual Rhapsody, a solo exhibition of his paintings, will be featured at Tally Beck Contemporary Gallery from July 7 to August 30, 2011. An opening reception will be held at Tally Beck Contemporary on Thursday, July 7 from 6 till 10 p.m.

Go to it, East Coasters!
