I’m Still Standing…
by Danny Fisher
…It’s just that I’m swamped. I have some announcements to make about this blog and some other projects, but that can wait for the moment.
For right now, I’d like to direct your attention to the below — the first full theatrical trailer for Luc Besson’s upcoming Aung San Suu Kyi biopic The Lady. It debuted this week, generating further interest in the film, which was made largely in secret (to protect its subject and project advisors). As regular readers know well, the issue of human rights in Burma is of great concern to me (and I hope to you too). In addition, Aung San Suu Kyi is my personal hero. Out of concern for the country and admiration of her, I and others do our best to help, support, and promote the work of organizations like the U.S. Campaign for Burma…but I think films and projects on this scale go an especially long way towards raising awareness. I hope you’ll go see the film and tell your friends about it. Rarely is filmgoing an important act in and of itself…but in this case, it just might be.
